Seeking Assistant Director of Alumni Relations

Our Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and events guru, Patrick Luteran, recently took on a new role at MassArt and is also pursuing his own art making and design work. We are currently seeking to fill the position of Assistant Director to work closely with the Alumni Relations Director and the entire Institutional Advancement team to engage alumni in the life of MassArt.

Call for Art: 4th Biennial Juried Alumni ExhibitionEntry Deadline March 30th! Massachusetts College of Art and Design is pleased to announce the Call for Work for the 4th Biennial Juried Alumni Exhibition entitled Habitat/ion. Works that find their inspiration from the themes of habitat and/or habitation will be considered from a variety of creative disciplines and media. The exhibition will be on view in the Sandra and David Bakalar Gallery from June 15 – July 15, 2017. All MassArt alumni are invited to submit up to three works for consideration.

Haystack Alumni & Friends RetreatWe are seeking proposals from MassArt alumni and faculty interested in presenting a workshop for attendees of our 13th annual MassArt Alumni & Friends Retreat at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts located on the beautiful rocky coastline of Deer Isle, Maine. The art making retreat runs from September 27 thru October 1, 2017.

The MassArt Auction

Massachusetts College of Art and Design will celebrate the 28th MassArt Auction on Saturday, April 8, 2017. The proceeds of this spectacular night, featuring a live and silent auction, cocktails, and more, will provide vital scholarship aid and academic program support for our deserving students. MassArt is the nation’s only independent public college of art and design and is dedicated to providing an exceptional and affordable education for the next generation of artists and designers.

Know No.

I had the pleasure of catching up with alumnus Sam (SAMO) Okerstrom-Lang ’14 (SIM), a Boston-based new-media artist and designer, and member of the collective Masary Studios. Sam and his fellow collaborators Ryan Edwards and Maria Finkelmeier are in the process of mounting "Know No.", a site-specific installation scheduled to open in the historic Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts on March 2nd. In our interview, Sam shared how he first became involved with creating large-scale multi-disciplinary experiences, how Masary Studios was formed, and the story behind "Know No."
